Cricket in the North West: Lancashire CCC
Cricket is always interesting to follow. In this part, we are going to discuss the Lancashire County Cricket Club or the Lancashire CCC. Lancashire CCC is definitely one of the best cricket teams in England, currently playing in the English County Championship. As the name suggests, this team represents Lancashire.
The Lancashire CCC was first founded in 1864. They won the first Champion County in 1881, and shared three more titles in 1879, 1882, and 1889. Lancashire CCC showed superb performances throughout this particular period of the team’s history, becoming a serious rival to many other cricket clubs competing in the same championship.
Until today, the Lancashire CCC booked a total of 8 championship wins, including one shared win acquired in 1950. Unfortunately, they are not doing well the past couple of years. The team’s last victory was in 1999, when they took home the Pro40 League trophy and champion title.
The current team coach, Peter Moores, is former County Cricket player himself. Although the team is not performing superbly just yet, Moores managed to enhance the overall performance of Lancashire CCC substantially.
We all know that Lancashire CCC enjoyed their golden era in the 1920s to 1930s period. The team performed really well in that period, showing spectacular plays and winning a lot of honors. It is just a matter of time before Lancashire CCC returns to their glory days. Their home, the Old Trafford Cricket Ground, is among the best there is. The team also has proper financial support from their earnings, strengthening the foundations to be the best even further.
